This is a power point lesson encouraging students to use a range of higher level skills to explore the similarities between football and religion. It has a range of clips and activities all the tasks have the printable templates as part of the slide show. There is also a word document for the conversation task where students work in pairs. A philosophical lesson that enables learning different beliefs about god. Can be used with year 7's as an introduction to R.E. and philosophy. Can be differentiated easily by outcome. Includes some good examples of low, mid and high tariff literacy work to be shared and discussed before students commence the main written task.

KS3 RE, Includes discussion as a starter, background facts and information, a learning from activity focusing on the clothes we wear. Leads into a student research task (print out slides 5-12) for students alone or in groups to find out about and answer key questions on the 5 K’s. These questions are leveled in detail and difficulty, so easy to differentiate. Finishes with a task on Re-designing the school uniform. Lots of flexibility to adapt this lesson for group work too.

A printable worksheet containing key terms about the life of the Buddha. Good opportunity to extend literacy and encourages students to apply their knowledge of Buddhism by writing each word into a sentence or using the words to write a paragraph about Buddhism.

This can work for any KS3 R.E class and can be differentiated easily. You can use the information page to do a text marking task or use it as a comprehension. The learning objectives are clear and you could support less able with a few starter sentences on the written tasks. Very flexible uses, you could read as a class and emphasise literacy or use the resources for some independent learning. You could also adapt and set some tasks as homework.

Key stage 3 RE - a good introduction to Islam. The lesson begins with a linking activity which enables students to write in the first oval what they know already about the religion, then fill in the second oval as a review task at the end of the lesson. The lesson uses clips and key questions for students to make notes on the basics about Islam. Later on the presentation, it moves onto the 5 pillars of Islam and enables a learning from religion activity for students to try and relate some of the principles of Islam in a non-religious way. This could be adapted to work over 2 lessons.

This can be used for KS3 RE - Islam. The power point presentation clearly shows how to deliver the lesson and the resources accompany the learning activities. It can take 2 lessons and can be easily adapted to extend discussions and a class debate. The clips are hyper-linked on the slides of the presentation for students to watch.

A complete lesson with activities and video clips to introduce ethics. Used for year 9 RE, the lesson introduces the idea of utilitarian ethics through a funny starter clip with questions to discuss. Then puts in context the big picture of the learning. Following this is another clip which applies utilitarian ethics to a scenario. Students then work through some questions to lead into how we know right from wrong. The next activity looks at 4 ethical issues for students to reflect on. Finishing with a summary report to apply their knowledge and understanding. This could also be set as a homework.

A complete lesson and resource. This follows on from the 4 noble truths lesson. Could be used over 2 lessons. There is lots of content and opportunity to discuss the steps and apply them to real life. Students match the steps to show understanding of what each one is about for Buddhists. There is an extended writing task where students apply their understanding of one of the steps. Here i provide a model answer and give a target of 15 lines of writing. Finally there is a homework task where students must create a book of happiness, like those little books you see near the tills at waterstones.

I used this with Y9 students as lesson 2 of a unit on ethics. It is a real life story of conjoined twins who were separated. it includes a whole lesson and resources that need to be printed to accompany the activities on the slides. It focuses on religious views and should gradually reveal the full story of what happened. it has web links to the press coverage of the story which can be adapted and used as homework or differentiated up to create research.

Used with Y9 students as lesson 3/4 of the ethics unit. This introduces the definition of capital punishment, getting students to think about crime and punishment in general. It leads to some statistics from amnesty and a sorting task or the arguments for and against the death penalty.

Each slide in the power point contains a stimulus and or a task that is aimed a full class discussion, then individual reflection, onto pair work and the opportunity for group work. There is also a template for the interpretation task and a print based set of questions that can be used to differentiate the lesson.

Use with Y9 as the 4th lesson of a whole ethics unit of work. Independent learning is the focus of this lesson once the broader issues have been discussed. The worksheets attached also offer scope to study religious views about uses of animals. This can easily be differentiated up to create stretch and challenge by comparing the 4 world view’s opinions about the use of animals. You could also introduce pair/group work/presentations using the resources.
